Osteopathic medical students are taught that each patient should be treated as a whole person, and that all body systems are dependent on one another for a person’s health. Like the philosophy behind osteopathic medicine, the school knew that a building cannot perform to its full potential with outdated interiors and facility systems. This 75,000-square-foot renovation included the complete removal of all interiors, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in three buildings. Work performed also included the renovation of an existing elevator. This project is currently seeking LEED Silver certification.
The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine proudly opened its doors to its first class of 50 first and second year students in July 2014. The program was founded in 1975 at Ohio University’s Athens campus and still remains as the state’s only osteopathic medical school.
